Zimmermann definitely isn't fooling anyone tonight.
His location was off from the start. The Yankees lineup can give a young pitcher an education.

As it warms up the hitters will. Take a look around the league. There are some talented hitters struggling big time.

Really hard for me to believe that these pitchers are that overpowering. I do agree that things will change once the summer heat starts but that's mainly for homeruns. These pathetic batting averages around both leagues is a product of hitters having no clue how to make consistent contact. This whole, "swing from your ass and try to hit the ball 500 ft.", is really making fools out of most of these guys. But as shown for several years now, strikeouts mean nothing and if they can go long after being punched out 50% of the time, everything is hunky dory. Again, I reiterate- unwatchable.

I agree that it is the approach that many teams including the Orioles are teaching, but there are some very good hitters that are way below career norms. I have to believe that will change. Hitters seek their levels in a 162 game schedule.

And your right, at times definitely unwatchable.

Not choke up but if you've got 2 strikes on you, what hitters used to do was cut down on their swing and try to put the ball in play. Today's hitters are clueless on how to do that nor are they interested. The best thing I can say about it is that if history teaches us anything, baseball runs in cycles and hopefully, one day we'll return to the way the game used to be played. As John Lennon once said, "it can't get much worse."

I also forgot to add that today's hitters have a pathetic awareness of the strike zone. They expand it so much for these pitchers, it's no wonder they ring up K's to the extent that they do. Watch Orioles hitters flailing away...they're a prime example of that.
