I remain stunned regarding that last sentence, but to each their own.

I should have prefaced it as a limited series. It's easily one of the best of the last 20 years which would include Band of Brothers (which is hands down the best, period) People vs OJ Simpson, Chernobyl  and The Night Of.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

That makes more sense.

I haven't seen OJ or The Night Of, but I'd easily rank Band of Brothers (The Pacific too) and Chernobyl over this. Watchmen as well.

I thought it wrapped things up nicely and managed all the twists well.  It wasn't phenomenal, but it was pretty good.

Can we talk spoilers yet?

Mr. Carroll said he noticed one day his gun was missing. Then another day, it was back. During his statement, it shows us Ryan had stolen it and returned it the same night.

Poor writing? Mr. Carroll’s mind is little off (we know this)? Or Ryan lying in his statement (as many have)?

I think he checked and saw the gun wasn't there during the time it was missing, but then noticed it back the next day, or another day after, I'm not sure if it said specifically.

I noticed that too. To me, that's some sloppiness in the writing, but obviously I'm more negative than most on this show.

I think he heard a noise out back (which was the kid breaking into the shed) and checked the shed that night. Then he checked a few days later and the gun was back.

It was also missing two bullets. But yeah I think the writing there was a little forgetful as to how long the gun was missing.

And instead of alerting the authorities then, he waited months for no good reason. The explanation: so they could somehow make it seem like 5 other people killed Erin before revealing that none of them actually did.

That's what I took from it.

It was a good show, but it went 30 minutes or so too long. Just end it with us thinking it was John, and you have gold.

I also didn't need to see some of the happy ending elements that I felt were largely unearned (Mare family bliss, Mare and Richard all of a sudden being serious but he's leaving, Dylan doing the right thing when we recently saw him chase down his classmate and threaten her with a gun to her head, but hey he's cool now).

Pretty much could have done without the love stories all together. Who's Mare going to go out on a date with? Find out on the next episode of Mare of Easttown!

Didn't need her daughter's dating arc either, especially when she did the text/ call a billion times in one night move.

But again, the acting was great and it was compelling and entertaining overall.

Yeah, that was probably a stretch, but on the other hand he was pretty clearly in early stages of dementia.

Just binged it over a couple days, I liked how they had her daughter going to Berkeley to serve as a contrast to the other people in her generation that were all just stuck there

Jalopnik thinks that Dylan's car was too nice.

Although, I thought that he was supposed to a spoiled kid from a semi-affluent family, and he could have afforded the ear operation money, he just didn't think he should have to pay it.

Thought about that, but it’s an old car that he could have restored, which in small towns is believable.

Less believable is his buddy with the brand new Dodge Charger with the racing package. Far less believable is Dylan giving the money over to Lori. No chance in hell he’s doing that.

Yeah, I guess we're supposed to think that the shock of <redacted> being the killer turned Dylan into a decent human being, but I'm not sure I'm buying it either.

Recently rewatched.   Understand Mike's point that there was a lot packed in, but think it was excellent overall.
