Is there anything more in the Athletic story than the fact that he was dismissed?

He's friends with my stepbrother. Said before the opener he hadn't heard if he was going to be back or not.

The tweet in question was Wednesday night, and he reported to the stadium Thursday, so clearly he assumed he had the job. Odd story, the tweet was legit funny. There has to be more here.

I think its possible this is the worst run Big 4 franchise in sports. If not the worst clearly one of the worst.
If that's all it is... they didn't think to call in another PA person until morning of the game? What is going on here? How incompetent can they get.

According to the report, Wagner’s firing was due partly to his commentary on his personal Twitter account, @rwags614. The report states that Wagner had previously been cautioned by the team about his social media posts.

This is an example why myself and some others continue to blame current ownership for the problems of the past decade plus. It's not like they just got to town. This is the same circus we've always had.

Is it still up. If so can you link it or quote it or something.

Was it the April 2 quote on MLB's decision to move the All-Star Game?
(Please nobody start a political debate!)

It would highly surprise me if that tweet cost him his job.
I do think he absolutely should have been told ahead of time. He was with the organization a long time. Weird move that he hadn't been told if he was coming back.
Maybe there was something else, we are all not privy to knowing.

Despite my old bias (reason why linked in the thread above)... my stepbrother has said several times he's a good guy. He was with the organization for a long time. Sorry to see his tenure end like this. Can't be fun.

Man with cancel culture the way it is today I dont understand why you'd have a personal twitter account when you have a high profile job
