I can't find the post/thread but do we have an update on this?  It was *supposed* to be ready by Opening Day which is in 9 days and other than the article announce it will happen back in January (I think) I have heard nada.

Anyone have any insight?

Well, they fired their top guy, so maybe that's an indication?

I saw a conversation on Reddit. I have no idea if any of it has any value. But I'll share a couple of points. One person (who says he has connections) commented that the announcement of the app, was the first that their IT dept had heard about it. So they started from scratch in January. Another person with connections, said they will broadcast their first ST game this week.

Lol - how sad is it that I'm not even remotely skeptical of the source of this info, given how accurate it sounds?

Welp guess it’s back to good old CyberGhost for me until this app comes along...

It certainly rings true, to how that RSN has been run

Well, in MASN logic, cordcutters can't use their app anyway.

They can if they have a nice friend with a cable login

True, but is that how a pro sports franchise should treat their fan base? They intentionally make it difficult for fans to have access to their below average product. It's like they don't want people to watch the games. In the Reddit discussion I saw, people were talking about how MASN is on the verge of bankruptcy (citing the gutting of the on-air people and all non-game programming). Interestingly enough, no one was saddened by the idea of MASN folding up and being dissolved. Kind of shows you how people feel about the network.

Probably is part of the MASN contract with the providers that they can't allow viewers to stream for free.

I have my doubts about that. When MASN launched, they insisted that every cable subscriber pay the MASN tax, even those subscribers that don't have the programming tier that includes the channel. Direct TV immediately agreed. Comcast balked. So the O's told them it was an all or nothing proposal. Either all your customers pay, or we won't allow you to broadcast the network at all. It didn't take long for Comcast to realize they'd lose a ton of customers to D-TV. If they had that kind of leverage then, I doubt things have changed now. If they wanted to, they could open up the service to everyone.

I doubt that extremely highly. Why wouldn't they let everyone watch if they could? Whats the upside for restricting access to those with a cable subscription? It just throws away possible ad revenue.

My guess is that they aren't allowing it to cord-cutters, because they get more money from TV providers if they don't allow it. But there's a difference between agreeing to reserve access to cable subscribers, thus increasing their revenue, and not being allowed to provide cable-free streaming. My understanding is, since the owners agreed to allow in-market access to games, only 3 teams have held out (O's, Nats & Dodgers). The Dodgers situation is a result of some kind of convoluted tv rights situation throughout the LA area. MASN seems to maintain blackouts, just because they want to. Given the struggle between the two MASN ownership groups, I would think someone would have reported on any kind of restrictions that weren't self imposed.
