Supposedly he was working out on the backfields today.
Elias mentioned that they worked the contract so he could start at the alternate site, so they do not have to rush him to be ready by OD.

I totally get why a pitcher would need such accomodations, or if he were signed absurdly late, but isn't 2 weeks enough to get up to speed? If a guy was injured and missed half the year, I wouldn't expect their rehab assignment last much longer than 2 weeks.
The option to option him is good if needed, but I'm a little disappointed that it seems like they're definitely going to use that option.

I kind of thought the same thing. I will still be a little surprised to see him optioned.

I won't be that surprised or concerned if Franco is optioned.
He's coming into camp late and he has options to burn.
Let him get extended PT in Florida if he needs it.

He's coming into camp late and he has options to burn.
Let him get extended PT in Florida if he needs it.
I think it is likely he sits the first week, but it does not really matter. I wonder if they are trying to give Ruiz one last shot before moving on.

Hurt on the last play tonight.
It looked nasty. It always sucks to see a player get hurt, but Franco was swinging the bat well, so it makes getting hurt worse
