Absolutely shocked that this trainwreck of a franchise is on a 2-8 run. That 7-1 start was fueled by four straight one-run wins, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if they're dead last in the NL East after their upcoming five game (!) series with the Nats this weekend.

Sounds like Kim Ng will be the first woman hired as a general manager of an MLB team.

Multiple sources saying the Marlins are hiring her.

Really felt like she was the other angle that the Orioles could have taken with their FO.

If offered, she sort of has to say yes, but she'd have some relationships that she could likely leverage to bring in people to fix structure that the Orioles wouldn't typically have had access to.

I think Elias was the right move for this organization.

Finally.  I've only been hearing the buzz about Kim Ng for at least 10 years now.  I wish her the best of luck.

I don't think Ng would have been the wrong move.  But I'm fine with how Elias has turned out so far.  I was among those who was hoping the O's would offer her.

FanGraphs: Richard Bleier Is Striking Out Batters Now

Good for him.  Bleier was pretty good here.  He was making his way back from a serious injury, and was settling in, when we traded him.

I think we got a minor league infielder but the timing of the trade was strange.  The Marlins had many players out due to Covid, and it felt like we helped them out by giving them Bleier, when we were playing them.

Jeter stepping down as CEO.

His statement highlights a difference in the vision for the near (I guess) future.

It's a fairly significant move, given his profile.  John Angelos is the CEO for the Orioles, but he's assigned it as part of ownership.  Jeter was part of ownership too, but obviously in a different position than majority owner Bruce Sherman.

So everyone was excited to jump Max Meyer into the Majors and after 111 innings in 2021 (few innings in 2020, COVID) he had 60 innings this year nad they threw him into the Majors, gets bombed in his first start and leaves his next in the first inning.  Now Tommy John, on the IL and he'll build service time simply because of the timing.

You finish your development in terms of innings load (pitchers) in the minors.  You should pitch, then 100+ then 150+ in the minors, the last 250 at AA/AAA.  Your stuff doesn't matter, it's not about your stuff.  It's about building up a starters workload and then pitching routinely (not once, not twice) to 100+ pitches to manage fatigue, effort, etc.

Everyone does what they do.  The Marlins tried to treat Meyer well (aggressively) and now they are bit in the ass and while it would seem reasonable to respect the Organization in terms of the time, we'll see what happens (usually not).

You can be fair and reasonable with guys.  It's not manipulation and you can treat them well as things progress.  You control the things you can when the ball is in your court because eventually it's in the other guys court.  More appropriately, it's in his agents court.
