If he's only the second-best defensive CF ever then that's still a pretty convincing HOF case

Source: Numerous National Baseball HOF voters have reached out to the Hall hoping to amend their ballots, removing their votes for Curt Schilling after he supported the seditious acts in Washington D.C. 2 weeks ago. HOF officials are concerned about the precedent this could set.
Some apparently unclear on the guidelines for HOF voting: “Voting shall be based upon the player's record, playing ability, integrity, sportsmanship, character and contribution..." Terrific pieces recently from @Ken_Rosenthal, @ctrent, and others on the dilemmas involved.
Now, if your issue is that this recent support of sedition should not have been necessary to inform an opinion of Schilling, well that I agree with. But it was a final straw for some.

Manny, who actually got suspended, above Sosa, who never did, is intriguing for how the voters view PEDs and what not

Schilling missed by 16 votes. Only tiny upticks in Bonds and Clemens.
He'll miss by a heck of a lot more than 16 next year.

Curt Schilling in letter to the Hall of Fame: "I will not participate in the final year of voting. I am requesting to be removed from the ballot. I’ll defer to the veterans committee and men whose opinions actually matter and who are in a position to actually judge a player.''

Just on playing merit alone, anyone that would vote for Vizquel but not Wagner should lose their vote. Im dead serious.
It is crazy how much support he has.

Kinda weird, but Manny was the better player imo.

Manny was a HoF hitter without steroids. I suspect Sammy Sosa would've had trouble hanging on.
Although, I've long held the belief they need to convene a committee to just batch-approve the steroid-tinged candidates, suspensions or not, into the Hall of Fame. Just get it over with.

Not taking Schilling's side in this. He did his candidacy in with his mouth and his opinions.
I will agree that the men voting in the HOF aren't really aren't the best baseball representation and leave a lot to be desired.

Once David Ortiz is eligible, I'm sure the voters will magically forget about PEDs. Especially if Bonds and Clemens are no longer eligible.
