The Terps, 10-4, 0-1, attempt to get their first ACC win against Wake Forest 10-5, 1-0.

Wake is coming off of a 58-55 win over VaTech.

The Demon Deacons have lost to Dayton, Arizona State, Richmond, Seton Hall, and Wofford.
Among their wins are Texas Tech, Nebraska, UNCW, and Yale (by 1).

WF enters the game:

149th overall in PPG: 69.7
285th overall in Rebonds: 32.1
223rd overall in Assists: 12.3
123rd overall in FG%: .448

CJ Harris (6'3 Jr. Guard) leads the team in scoring at 18.3 ppg. He also averages 3.5 boards, 2.6 assists. On 3.5 3pt attempts per game, Harris is shooting 55%.

Travis McKie (6'7 Soph. F) is 2nd in scoring at 17.5 ppg. He also averages 6.5 boards, and 1.1 steals. Against VaTech, he had 15 rebounds.

In my eyes, the Terps will be in decent shape if they win tonight and Sunday against Georgia Tech; while splitting the next two road games at FSU, and in Philly vs. Temple.

Well the Terps played about as well as I think they are capable of in the first half. Played very good defense (plus Wake missed a couple open 3's) and rebounded the ball very well. On the offensive end, they are moving the ball great, particularly Len finding open cutters from the high post. Also shooting the ball very well, Mosley has hit a couple deep shots and Stoglin is absolutely on fire, would be 5-6 from three if he didn't have his foot on the line for two of them. Pankey is the most active player on the court, seemingly involved in every play.

40-24 at the half. Great effort and execution by the Terps.

They went ice cold in the second half (plus Walker was blocking just about everything inside), but still played pretty good defense and did enough to win. Stoglin hit a couple big shots when things got tight, but for me the two plays that really stopped the Wake run and got MD out to a big enough lead that they could hang on for the win were both steals by Pe'shon. He made two very nice defensive plays, one stealing the ball himself, and the other knocking the ball away from (I think) Walker from behind when he got a pass underneath. Both were huge plays that really prevented Wake's big comeback from getting all the way back to even.

I also really liked the effort inside from both Pankey and Padgett, they were very active. Len didn't have his best game, but he did have a few big blocks and rebounds. He seemed to have trouble scoring over Wake's pair of 7-footers, though.

Stoglin and Mosley were both hot in the first half and then went cold, but each made a play or two when things got tight to help us win.

Solid game overall. Would prefer a bit more balance than the hot & cold halves we saw, but overall it a was a nice win.

I think one thing we're seeing with this team is that when things are firing on all cylinders, they can probably play with just about anyone. At the same time, especially when Stoglin goes cold, things can go poorly enough that this team can probably lose to just about anyone. Such is life with a young team, I suppose.

It's great to see Pankey have a good game. Since Len has arrived, Pankey has definitely taken the biggest statistical hit. Hopefully this is a bit more like what we can expect from him going forward.

At the same time, especially when Stoglin goes cold, things can go poorly enough that this team can probably lose to just about anyone. Such is life with a young team, I suppose.

This is definitely true. They still don't have anyone who can score consistently when Stoglin is not playing well. Mosley did it for a little bit yesterday, early in the game, but once Stoglin came in it was all him for the most part.

Somebody needs to be a consistent #2 option, that has the ability to be the focus of the offense when Stoglin is cold, in foul trouble, or just on the bench for a rest. Len needs to be fed the ball, so he doesn't really count, although if he starts getting more touches while keeping his efficiency as high, then he could be that option. I'd really like to see Mosley do what all hoped he do after his first two years, or perhaps see Faust, Parker, or somebody else really take a giant, mid-season leap forward like Stoglin did last year.

I agree with this for sure, but I think i'm done expecting or hoping Mosley to take that next step, I just don't see it happening. I would love for that guy to be Faust, although my gut says that won't be until next year, after his first full year in Turg's system and a whole off-season bulking up. I guess he could get hot, but he's looked incredibly raw so far.
