For what I can see as a B- type game, throwing up 33 points on a potential playoff team not playing your best football means this team has greatly improved.
They can stop the run with 7 in the box. They can bait the QB and disguise coverages. They can pass it deep and with accuracy. They can run when given the proper blocking.
O-Line needs to rework some things, but I believe the wrinkles in the game are present and waiting to expose them to the Chiefs on Monday. I bet Fluker starts to get an even amount of reps in practice. Bozeman pulling in the second half and opening holes on off tackle runs is encouraging to see. Brown had his hands full with Watt, but I also believe it was the lack of maintaining the pocket with Phillips and Skura that caused Brown to look bad. Ravens would do well getting more into the screen game or shallow crossing routes to negate the defensive line from putting their ears back and fore borne rushing.
They picked on Averett, which is nothing new, but last season they picked on Carr. You always go for the weak link, but that is easy to accomplish between the 20s and tougher to get into the end zone.
Ravens defensive pressure was acceptable, but also realize they were playing a guy that is tough to bring down 1-1. I was pleased with their ability to collapse the pocket with 4 man rush and at least force Watson to get it out quickly and work off three step drop route trees, or single the hot WR for a short gain.
Texans defense didn't roll over and played much better than the opening week against the Chiefs. I firmly believe this weeks defense is the one teams will routinely see from the Texans.
