And looking at his profile makes it seem even more ridiculous that he was able to stop Thor and his hammer cold simply by crouching down and sticking his shield out. Or that he thought he was a match for Thor or Ironman. Either would destroy him.

Agree to a point, but his shield is supposed to be a BIG part of why he is so special. It can absolutely withstand a shot from Thor's hammer, or pretty much anything else. You could make the argument that it's the most superhero-esque part of him.

He does help the chemistry of the Avengers and is a leader, but his powers pale in comparison to the others, which is why I didn't like some aspects of the movie where they made him seem like an equal of theirs.

Lol...I think you are over analyzing things a bit.

But he's still holding the shield. I'm not expecting the shield to break, but he should be able to be pushed back if something of immense strength hits the shield.

Either way, he wouldn't have much of a chance against the other guys.

I think it's a fun thing to think about. And it is a valid criticism of the movie imo.

It IS a comic book movie, and you have to go with the rules and abilities the comics have set forth. Maybe the super strength coupled with the Vibranium shield (which absorbs a lot of the impact, just what the comics say) is enough to balance it out. You see him get blasted back a lot when blocking things with it, but Thor came down on the shield, he didn't hit him head on, so I'd think the crater and blast you get makes sense, where if hit from the front he would have slid back a ways.

Asking the wrong guy, I'm not a huge Cap fan, but I get what they are trying to say, and he routinely kicked Iron Man's butt in the comics (at least back and forth enough where he wasn't losing).

Well I am going off what Marvel says about him. I just don't see how he would compete with the other 3 in fights.

That fight scene between Iron Man and Thor with CA coming in at the end was great, though.
