Holy shit Rob Manfred is trying to force the Mets to pull a social justice awareness stunt tonight by having the players symbolically leave the field at 7:10 before returning an hour later to play at 8:10 even though the players don’t want to play tonight

Unless this is somehow fabricated or the greatest misinterpretation in the history of the sport, Commissioner of Baseball, Rob Manfred, has to resign. Tonight. This is indefensible, cheap, sordid, racist.

This is my base reaction, too, but I don't think it helps anything.  Try to engage.  Takes a lot of work to change minds but if you can start at least getting people to listen a bit things can get moving in the right direction.  Goes both ways, too.  Gotta be willing to hear them out, as frustrating as it can be to listen to people who aren't aware of how they sound and what their words really mean.

You're right, and I know this to be true.

 

But it gets very frustrating that the same people who say "cancel culture" is ruining the world are the first to say "no comment" when discussing important issues like this.

I don't think I can name more than a dozen senators. Athletes have a huge platform.

I responded, then edited myself. 

He's not a cringe follow. 
He's not someone you, "I don't agree with much he has to say, but seems like a reasonable guy." 

 

He's just a horrible person.
