NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly says there are currently no plans to postpone tonight's games. "I don’t expect the League to initiate a game stoppage. Obviously, our Players are free to express themselves in any manner they feel is appropriate."

In the wake of the Jacob Blake shooting, the NHL will hold a moment of reflection before tonight's Tampa/Boston game in Toronto and tonight's Colorado/Dallas game in Edmonton.

@mattyports
On a Sportsnet panel, analyst Kelly Hrudey calls for the NHL to cancel games tonight. "We need to be more supportive. ... The NHL is missing out. "I'm disappointed that we're talking about hockey tonight."

Naomi Osaka says that she’s pulling out of her semifinals tennis match tomorrow. "Before I am an athlete, I am a Black woman. And as a Black woman I feel as though there are much more important matters at hand that need immediate attention, rather than watching me play tennis."

I think the situation speaks for itself.

People will try to justify it (they already have), as well as justifying the 17-year old vigilante (THEY ALREADY HAVE)...

...at this point, you can decidedly figure out whether you're on the side of right or wrong by how you feel about this situation.

I don't care what type of person Jacob is, or what Jacob said, did, or reached for; there was -no- justification for what happened, and we're lucky that permanent paralysis is the WORST that came from this.

No surprise, but I wholeheartedly agree.

LeBron just said that them and the Clippers are done playing this postseason.

I think the bubble is a wrap, guys.

Ball is in the owner's court. This is an attempt to get them to step up.

That was one of my first thoughts.

The Orioles played (which I don't see as the WRONG decision), but I think that Adam would have at least had something to say prior or afterward. Or maybe he would have sat out.

It's gonna be really interesting to see what happens over the next week. Because once college football starts up in about a week or so, "people" are going to stop caring. So whatever they're considering doing from an action standpoint, they need to be fast.

I hope they're talking to activists and combining their collective powers. You only get one shot at this.

Like I said, a lot depends on what the NBA governors (owners) are willing to do.

As for what you say regarding college football, what I would absolutely love to see, but am not anticipating by any means, is a significant number of these high profile college teams striking as well. Of course they have another significant reason to strike.

Wondering what the NFL reaction will be, feels like they'll do everything to make sure there's no games postponed or otherwise delayed

I think it would be a game-changer if the NFL players boycotted to try and affect change. But as much as they might want to, NFL players just don’t wield the leverage over the league that NBA players do. I doubt they do much more than they had already planned before Jacob Blake.

It's also the math of it, easier to get 15 or so NBA guys on-board instead of 50+ NFL guys
