One of my fondest UMD basketball memories is from back in 2002 during the championship season. I attended a game vs. Norfolk State with my dad, and in the final minutes, once the outcome was beyond doubt, the student section led a cheer of "We Want Earl!" that resounded throughout the entire arena. With a couple minutes or so left, Gary subbed him in, and the crowd let out one of the loudest roars of the entire game. It's a shame to hear of his untimely passing. RIP

I remember him on the National Champ team also. I can remember Gary, commending him for making sure the others worked hard in practice. We are seeing a lot of hard times in our country and it sounds like Earl had more than his share. RIP, Earl.

Wow, this is incredibly sad. Earl was one of my favorite walk-ons over the years. RIP.
