3-star ATH Lavain Scruggs (Severn, MD) commits to Maryland. He’ll likely play safety for the Terps. Had other offers from Buffalo, Liberty, Massachusetts, and Temple.

If Coach Locksley can continue to grab out-of-state 4-star/5-star players AND win, the program will continue to move in the right direction.

So has LB Nyair Graham. Not surprising, as he's a HS teammate of Amari Clark.

I know Lox will close and the rankings will move up...but I'd like to see some names start falling their way.

Big commitment to watch for tomorrow as 3-star OT Andre Roye from St. Frances makes his decision between Maryland, N.C. State, Penn State, and Rutgers. Things seem to be trending Maryland’s direction as Jeff Ermann just flipped his prediction from Penn State.

Offensive line will be a major focus for Locksley in this class, and picking up a 6’6”, 310 lb. tackle would be a great start.

Delayed until today. Committed to PSU.

Also seems they may have lost their commitment from Amipeleasi Fifita, who apparently now goes by the surname Langi. He was the JUCO DL from Independence CC.

3-star OTs Keon Kindred and Ja’Kavion Nonar both committed to Maryland this morning. They’re high school teammates from Glades Central High School in Belle Glade, FL.

4-star DL Derrick Moore (Baltimore, MD) de-committed from Oklahoma this morning. Expect him to be one of Maryland’s top targets in the next few weeks.

Also keep an eye on former 4-star WR Jalil Farooq if he enters the transfer portal. It’s a fire sale in Lincoln right now, and a mass departure seems inevitable.

OT, but all these OK decommits sure seem to indicate Lincoln Riley will kill it recruiting at USC.

Two players to watch for in the transfer portal:

WR Jadan Blue (Temple)

Missed four games due to injury this season, but was the Owls' leading receiver in 2019 and 2020. He's a Baltimore native, and played his high school ball at The Peddie School in New Jersey. He'd be eligible immediately.

CB Karon Prunty (South Carolina)

Prunty played at Kansas as a freshman before transferring to the Gamecocks. He was there only a month before entering the portal again. He was a Freshman All-American in 2020, and led the Jayhawks with a whopping 10 pass breakups. He's a native of the Tidewater area in Virginia, and was recruited out of high school by wide receivers coach Zohn Burden when he was at Virginia Tech. He should be eligible immediately, and will have four years remaining.

Better start looking at LBs now.

Better start looking at LBs now.

They do currently have two 3-star ILBs joining them in the 2022 class (Caleb Wheatland and Kellan Wyatt), and I believe Bam Booker should also be coming in after gray-shirting last season.

3-star QB AJ Swann has de-committed, and is expected to flip to Vanderbilt soon. Huge blow for the class, as he was thought to be the heir apparent when Tagovailoa moves on after next season.

After Swann's de-commitment, Maryland's 2022 class ranks #49 in the country, and #12 in the Big Ten.

Two years in a row MD loses one of its top recruits to Vanderbilt? WTF?

There will be quality additions. I'll wait to see how it all shakes out. Very curious to see if the net result of this season is better recruiting, worse, or about the same. So far, not looking good, but as I said, it's early, there will definitely be some quality additions.
