Solid first addition to the class. He also has the ability to play DB, and Henry Baker played a significant role in his recruitment.

Don't have the link available right now, but they got a commitment from a JUCO DT yesterday.

Amipeleasi Fifita from Independence Community College. He's a big dude at 6'6" 335 lbs. Terps were on him early, doesn't look like he had any other offers.

Isn’t he the 5th recruit in 2 years from ICC?

3-star OLB Nyair Graham (Camden, NJ) committed to Maryland this evening. Excellent pickup for the Terps as a versatile player who could fit as a LB/S hybrid similar to Antoine Brooks, Jr. His recruitment was led by cornerbacks coach Henry Baker, and chose Maryland over offers from Miami (FL), Michigan, Penn State, and Virginia Tech, among others.

Baker has been on fire thus far, as he's already added 4-star WR Amari Clark (Camden, NJ) to the 2022 class.

3-star CB Lionell Whitaker (Tallahassee, FL) just committed to Maryland. His recruitment was led by outside linebackers coach Brawley Evans, and he chose Maryland over offers from FAU and Tennessee.

Nice to see Maryland continue to get kids from Florida.

It sounds like this young man is buddies with Darrell Jackson who previously committed to the Terps.

3-star QB Preston Howard (Owings Mills, MD) from McDonogh School just committed to Maryland. He's currently ranked as the 10th-best dual-threat QB in the 2022 class, and the 9th-best player in the state. He chose the Terps over offers from Auburn, Michigan, and Penn State, among others. Many don't see him as a collegiate quarterback, but he's an excellent athlete with the ability to contribute at tight end or linebacker depending on how Locksley and the coaching staff want to utilize him.

The 2022 class is currently ranked #20 in the country, and #5 in the Big Ten.

While Howard was recruited as an athlete, the team looks focused on AJ Swann and Jayden Sauray as their primary QB targets for this year's class. Both are 3-star dual-threats, ranked as the #12 and #13 players at their position, respectively. Swann is from the state of Georgia, while Sauray is a Wise HS product and holds other offers from Boston College, Buffalo, Marshall, Old Dominion, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia.

Sauray hasn't set a commitment date yet, but Swann will be committing on March 1st and deciding between Colorado, Maryland, Tulane, USF, and Virginia Tech. He's reportedly already made his decision, but will wait until then to make it public.

Howard indicated in an interview MD will give him an opportunity at QB. Looking at his film, and specifically his throwing motion, I don’t imagine that opportunity will need to last long.

Locksley tweeted The Wall gif last night, and AJ Swann (3-star QB from GA) is supposed to announce his commitment today. So....

Yep, he'll be committing in about 30 minutes. Jeff Ermann was pretty confident weeks ago that he'd be choosing Maryland.

Swann commits to Maryland. Big pickup.

247Sports ranks him as the 27th-best pro-style QB in the country. Inside linebackers coach Brawley Evans led his recruitment.

Maryland's 2022 class currently sits at #19 in the country, #5 in the Big Ten.

247Sports did some re-ranking of their 2022 recruits, so Maryland's class is now up to #15 in the country. They still rank 5th in the conference behind Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, and Rutgers.

5th in the Conference and 5th in the East. Crazy.

Sauray has picked up 3 crystal balls on 247Sports, and all have him headed to Maryland. Elijah Brooks and Dan Enos are leading his recruitment, and West Virginia looks to be the only real competition for the Terps. He'd add an excellent dual-threat presence to the quarterback room.

247Sports: Elite 11 Atlanta Regional: Top Performers

https://247sports.co...onal-162024219/

Canton (Ga.) Cherokee signal-caller and Maryland commit AJ Swann stole the show in earning an invite to the 23rd annual Elite 11 Finals. He made every throw from every arm angle, rarely missing over the course of five hours. Extremely accurate with a live arm, Swann was flipping his hips and looking good in scrambling drills as well.

“He checked every box today,” [Rusty] Mansell said. “I’ve seen him now for three years and that’s the best I’ve seen him.”
