Milone is basically a journeyman but he knows how to pitch. He stayed in the fight last night, had the long second inning, but figured out how to get into the 6th. He may have gone a little further if he had gotten a little help from Valaika

He had a 5.67 ERA from 2016-2019 so having this year's ERA at 3.99, especially with his rough Opening Day at Fenway, is really encouraging

I just looked, in his five starts since Opening Day at Fenway, his ERA is 3.08 with 26 K's in 26.1 IP

Compared to last year (and career averages) his K% is up, and BB% is down.

I like watching guys that pitch old school. Milone and Eshelman do that. They work both corners, change speeds and locate pitches. Given their stuff, they are going to have games where they get rocked. Milone was on the ropes in inning 2 last night, but he actually adjusted by throwing more fast balls. It worked.
