They’d have time for about 4-5 games, and that’s assuming no COVID issues, before Playoff games start. But in reality the CFP would want matchups set by mid-Dec, so maybe only 3 games. No way that’s enough time to build a Playoff worthy resume.

Not a fan of this new commissioner. He needs to get everyone on the same page and come up with a plan.

I find this Thanksgiving talk just odd.

And they should have had a plan ready to go for the 'Spring' when they announced no Fall.

I'm very skeptical a Fall plan / beginning in January can work.

I think they should say we're picking up in '21.

That said, maybe just saying there could be Spring ball keeps some players from transferring to the SEC, ACC, Big 12? Maybe that's the plan.

Why wait till Thanksgiving? Start in mid October and then you can have teams make the playoff

I think that's exactly it. It's basically the same mindset that colleges nationwide are doing by having students back to campus, enroll in classes, then a couple weeks later (once the inevitable COVID spike occurs), push to full online after the enrollment/drop period has passed.

Ohio State fans would definitely demand to be in the playoffs after playing 3 games lol

Hell, they will ask to play the winner, even if they do not play game.

I think the NCAA nixed granting players immediate eligibility who bolt from conferences not playing this fall. With that settled, I think it takes away the incentive.

Hate to introduce politics, but have read several news stories that you-know-who is taking an active role in trying to get the Big Ten to start playing sooner than later; including a direct call with Kevin Warren and offering the saliva test kits to the member programs.

Warren needs to make another clarifying statement.

A) We're not playing during calendar year 2020.

B) We're starting on this date in 2020.

C) We're going to play a 'Spring' schedule beginning on X.

These reports popping up are horrible in-terms of building confidence.

In a way I feel bad for this new commissioner. He’s getting skewered and it was awful timing because they cancelled things right before this new test came out

That said, I would have waited until the last possible minute to postpone officially and they didn’t do that.

At worst I’d have said “at this time, we won’t be starting in time and will continue to monitor the situation.”

It's funny he seems less worried about the Pac 12, wonder if there's any reason why for that

Or the Big Ten contains several swing states while the Pac 12 doesn't, just spitballing

Oh 100% this is a move going after Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Nebraska and PA.

I hate that politics are allowed to meddle this badly.
