Lol at thinking the FO was like use Kjerstad tonight. You got to do it.

Not what I said.

I would bet a ton that the FO provided Hyde with a road map of how to use Kjerstad though.

They certainly didn't call him up and just tell Hyde to figure it out.

Notice when he got his first ML hit which happened to be a home run? After the game was over. We were getting no hit at the time. Absolutely no pressure situation. Unlike starting him which IMO was a bad call.

Adjustments will be made by both guys but Kjerstad looks a million times more comfortable at the plate than Cowser did. And it should be noted Kjerstad arrived to the Os far from being on a heater. Had slowed down a good bit the last month or so at AAA

I think Kjerstad has more confidence and a much better swing than Cowser. I think Cowser would benefit from going to a hitting lab this winter. Not very impressed with his approach and mechanics at all.

Kjerstad seemed super excited last night.  He got the hit, that drove Frazier in and he seemed to be thrilled beyond what is normal.  Then he perfectly read Trevor Story falling asleep and not covering third and made his mad dash to move up a base.  Good baseball instinct.

I hope he gets to play a couple of games in the outfield the next 3 days.  Get guys off their feet and let him play out there.  Maybe even a game at first base, although Mounty probably needs some at bats to get sharp.

Law:

Kjerstad reached the majors last year in just his second pro season, and I don’t think enough attention has been paid to how tough a road he had from draft day to the big leagues. Kjerstad developed myocarditis after a bout with COVID-19 in 2020, missing all of 2021 while recovering from the condition, and when he returned in 2022 he looked rusty and had trouble catching up to good velocity — nothing like the player he was at Arkansas in 2019-20. Last year, he was all the way back and then some, making consistent hard contact and more of it than before; when the O’s picked him second in 2020, his high strikeout rates against SEC pitching stood out as a red flag, but last year he showed the best two-strike approach of his career and kept his season strikeout rate under 20 percent until he reached the majors. There’s still more chase than you’d like to see in a corner outfielder whose value is mostly in the bat, and lefties are going to attack him with spin until he shows he can lay off it. Because he hits the ball so hard, so often, I think he can be an above-average hitter even if his strikeout rate drifts north of 25 percent, probably getting to 20-25 homers a year and a high BABIP as well. And maybe then I’ll stop joking about how his name sounds like the lead singer of a melodic death metal band or a storage unit you’d buy at IKEA.

Very excited to see what he can do. Looks like a guy who could mash 40 HR in OPACY.

I know you hate Hyde but he thinks he can hit 40.

That donk shouldnt have said 40. Put more pressure on him skip. Just say 30. 3 or 4 people a year hit 40. If that.

"Austin Hays, Cedric Mullins and Anthony Santander are firmly entrenched as Baltimore’s starting outfielders. The team will carry either one or two more from a group that includes Kjerstad, Colton Cowser (MLB Pipeline’s No. 19 overall prospect), Ryan McKenna, Kyle Stowers, Sam Hilliard and Daniel Johnson (a non-roster invitee)."

I hope Cowser, Kjerstad and Stowers have a great ST, I would love to have them make the team out of ST.  I would rather have McKenna, Hilliard and others help the AAA team.

For sure but no way Cowser, Kjerstad, and Stowers all make the team short of an injury to one of Mullins, Hays, or Santander. And even then not sure all 3 could make it.
