If you like both baseball and historical fiction, don't miss "The Celebrant"... Christy Mathewson, managing legend and former NL-Oriole great John McGraw, and a host of other names you should know, loom large.  But it's really kinda-sorta about WS rings becoming a thing...

And if you're curious about how the game has changed, decade by decade, throughout it's history, how stadiums have shaped the game, and lots of other stuff you probably never thought about, the "Bill James Historical Baseball Abstract" explains a lot... the first one came out in '85, but he's had a few updates to it since...

 

This from the guy who invented Sabermetrics... and, more crucially,, who knows how to use numbers to answer interesting questions...
