Need some help. Would you guys send out a 1994 Cal Ripken Jr Topps Stadium Club first day edition card to be graded?

Not at the prices PSA is charging. But look on eBay, filter by sold, and see if any others have been graded and sold, what they got for them. Also before grading anything, see if you think it would be a 10. Corners, edges, centering for sure.

For that card, $100, you’ll get it back in a year. Their prices ballooned when everyone flooded them during the pandemic. Trying to have less cards sent in to catch up on the back log.

When things return to normal (if??) $15 was the going rate I think, unless the value of the card was over $999. Then I think it was $25.

Sure thing. Looks like one sold for $9.50 back in December.

Also forgot to mention, Beckett and SGC are cheaper grading services. Like, $50 a card I think. Or $30 plus shipping, something like that. But only recently is SGC as reputable as PSA. Beckett of course been around, but always second to PSA. The Mike Trout 1/1 that set the then baseball card auction record was a Beckett graded card, and SGC recently had a Honus Wagner T206 card graded which made them essentially the third brand.

On the resale market, PSA graded cards will bring in more money because people know that white and red label. SGCs labels look like something you can make on Microsoft word, IMO.

If your trying to make money, don’t bother grading it. If you think it’s a 10 and want to preserve the condition in your personal collection, I’d do a cheaper option if brand doesn’t matter to you.

Ill take a look at it to see if I see any noticeable flaws. I did put it in a sleeve right away.  Doubt its a 10 obviously.

Also pulled a Michael Jordan TOpps Stadium First Day edition. Sold that one within a few years of pulling it. Kind of a afraid to research it  but again, if 2000 of them were printed it likely isn't huge value. Pulled both from Walmart packs. Probably within 3 months of each other.

Scooped up 10 packs of Bowman 2020 today -- guy at the store was nice enough to crack a fresh box for me to give me fresh auto odds.

Of course, no auto. Pulled a Jazz Chisholm chrome parallel. I have a TON of Chisholm parallels. If he ends up being a super star I will cash in.

Any notable movement on Chisholm consodering his All Star year?

Haven’t graded (which is absurd right now) or listed. They’re sitting, protected.

Kinda curious if the hobby is or will be trailing off. Haven’t bought anything in a long time. With inflation, economy tanking, recreational spending is usually the first to go. Part of me want to wait to sell some things, but I wonder if it becomes a buyers market sooner rather than later.
