Whatcha got?

Of the top of my head:

Titus Andronicus - The Monitor

Gang of Youths - Go Farther in Lightness

Jason Isbell - Southeastern

Okkervil River - Silver Gymnasium

Little Simz - Grey Area

I feel super out of touch lately with music so I'm starting this thread to see what everyone else liked.  Holla

Yeah I've been out of it too. Just listen to the bands I discovered in my 20's for the most part, kinda stopped trying to seek out new music within the last 10 years.

But my faves were:

1. Hamilton Leithauser, I Had a Dream That You Were Mine

2. The Walkmen, Heaven

3. Arcade Fire, The Suburbs

4. Beach House, Teen Dream

5. Lana Del Rey, Born to Die

6. The National, High Violet

7. A Tribe Called Quest, Thank You For Your Service

8. Vampire Weekend, Modern Vampires of the City

9. The National, Sleep Well Beast

10. Gang Starr, One of the Best Yet

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

I haven't listened to nearly as much as I should but I legitimately think Hamilton is amazing, even without the visual of the musical.

I'll work on a list but the Suburbs is my favorite (Arcade Fire). Just checked out my Spotify music of the decade, and the first song it played was The Suburbs. Perfect.

I don't listen to a ton of new music, but Brandi Carlile's "By The Way, I Forgive You" is a masterpiece.

You guys are out of touch?

I have only heard of 2 bands on any of the lists and I have actually not heard their music.

Suburbs was my favorite album of the decade.

The Hold Steady made an excellent album in Heaven is Whenever.  Teeth Dream was ok and the newest one isn't all that great (sad)

For hip hop my favorite this decade was My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.  Also really enjoyed Watch the Throne

Modern Vampires of the City is also excellent.

Lots of elitist hipsterness in that list.

alt-J is terrible. But I like that he had ATCQ at #3. The more I think about it the more I should have rated that album higher.

They still make albums? I thought everyone bought singles off the internet, or ripped em off youtube.

Law lists "Month of May" as one of the best songs on the Suburbs.  That may be the worst song on the record.  That or Empty Room or Rococo.
