Elsewhere in the HoCo;
County champ Reservoir survived a potential game-winner by Nick Marshall of River Hill, to hold on, 36-35.
Atholton knocked off Oakland Mills on the road, 79-68. The Raiders mounted a 28-12 start, one the Scorpions couldn’t overcome.
Sixth place Wilde Lake routed Carroll County runner-up Westminster, 66-45.
Ninth place Glenelg came up just short of Liberty, forcing a 2 point game with a minute-plus to go.

Eleven others feature both teams ranked among the top 60 (top 30%) in the MPSSAA, including Richard Montgomery v Clarksburg, Springbrook v Blake, and Annapolis v Leonardtown in 4A, Reservoir v Atholton and Centennial v Wilde Lake in 3A, Stone v Westlake, Oakdale v Middletown, and New Town v Milford Mill in 2A, and finally, Havre de Grace v Joppatowne, Cambridge v Crisfield, and Lake Clifton v Ben Franklin in 1A.
Each of the four classifications saw a 1 seed go down (3A saw two) on Tuesday, with Meade knocking off North County in 4A, Wilde Lake handling Westminster and North Hagerstown toppling Linganore for the second time in three years in 3A, Dunbar eliminating Sparrows Point in 2A, and Central taking out CMIT South. Nothing Earth shattering or shocking, unless you consider Sparrows Point and CMIT South being 1 seeds to begin with.
Having a harder go of it were the 2 seeds, who went 16-16 on Tuesday. The biggest ones (2 seeds) to go down were Oakland Mills, Marriotts Ridge, and Southern. Lower seeds, but top 25 teams Oxon Hill, Woodlawn, Dulaney, Franklin, Great Mills, all found the exits, as well.
Linganore’s loss could be a boon to Centennial, CM Wright, and/or Atholton, should they win, sliding up a spot in the new re-seeded quarterfinal format, while North County’s loss could benefit Bladensburg, Churchill, Wise, Clarksburg, and Blake in 4A, if any were to advance.
The two winners of the ‘Regions of Death’ (North Region I, South Region I) will be the 1 and 2 overall seeds in the quarterfinals in 3A, while the two region winners in the 3A West will take 7 and 8. If all home teams were to win, Reservoir and Northeast would flip for #3, and Centennial and CM Wright would flip for 5th.
In 4A, there are five teams that remain with four losses or less, so if all were to win, only the 4 v 5 would have two of those teams pitted against each other in the quarterfinals. Churchill would be a 6, if all higher seeds won, while the Arundel-Meade and Bladensburg-Parkdale winners would be 7 and 8.
Wicomico and New Town should be the top two seeds in 2A, while Oakdale and Century would flip for #3 if they both win, and WiHi and New Town win, and Douglass and Stone would flip for #5, if they were to win.

Tied at 37 at half with City, Poly outscored the Black Knights 34-8 in the third quarter to put an ending to any meaning of the fourth quarter. Final, Engineers 92, Black Knights 60. Justin Lewis led the Engineers with 34 points, while Brandon Murray, who received an offer from Georgetown tonight, added 20 points. Nic Carrington led the Knights with 19 points.
They pulled a Golden State Warriors on us in the 3rd qtr but the first half was electric. Hard to explain how the game changed that drastically but I thought we were in for a classic. Good thing Poly graduates 12 seniors this year.

Fun fact; From the 16 year period from ‘80-81 season through the ‘95-96 season, the Baltimore area boasted 19 teams that finished ranked among the top 25 in the country by any of the national publications. 14 of the 19 finished among the top 15. 16 of the 19 were from the city league.

Gilman’s Christian Winborne not being on either team is straight BS. There’s a strong argument that he should have been in the first team.
