I'm liking this Will Butler album from what I have heard. It's on Spotify. Won't be released until the 10th.

New album out July 28th.
Playing DC September 16th.
Wolf Parade and Phantogram are opening for them but not in DC. I'd love to see either of those bands...seen Wolf Parade before.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note
"Now OPS sucks. Got it."
"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."
"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Automatically won't be reading this.
Decent read, but ftr I generally hate the pov of the article. Not the argument for where Arcade Fire currently is.... but judging a band where they currently 'are' if they aren't at their prior heights. (What they did previously doesn't go away.)
Though to be fair to the article, the initial point that when a band grabs you in a certain moment in time in your life, that they can hook you forever... no matter what... does have truth to it.
Here you go, something better...

Still probably not going to see them live at those prices. Not paying damn near $200 to see them upstairs in an arena. They sure don't mind capitalism when it benefits them. (Salty, poor fan)
I paid $55 per ticket including the fees for club level. The most expensive tickets were floor listed at $85 + fees.

It wasn't that bad of an article. A little premature since the author hasn't heard the new album, just 2-3 songs from it that haven't inspired much hope. But Reflektor was a tad bloated...and Neon Bible was OK. So the band batting .500 so far, with two epic albums that got "album of the decade" level acclaim so that's not bad. An AF album is supposed to mean something, though. So hopefully this album is good and stands for something that we can tap into on a more primal level like their best work.
Random memory: Tony OH trashing AF after watching their live performance at the Grammys when they won album of the year for The Suburbs and saying they needed to work on their sound. Lol. Then admitting he liked crapped nu metal bands in the same thread. Good times.
Neon Bible is fantastic imo.
Haha regarding Tony. In that thread, he was being a real jerk (going with that word since Chris wants a cleaner site).

Was Arcade Fires site directing me to a 3rd party? Where did you buy your tickets?

Ticketmaster. I used the link in the email from the band to get there.

Neon Bible is a 10/10. Suburbs is an 11/10. Funeral is their third best and is still an unreal album.
Didn't LOVE Reflektor.
Oh and lol at that Tony memory. Is still funny today.

I remember that Tony thing too. "They sound like they shouldn't get past the state fair." And it was Avenged Sevenhold he had in high regard.

I prefer Funeral by a good margin over Suburbs. However, Sprawl II is their best song, I think.

Just cause an album wins a Grammy doesn't make it good. St. Anger won a Grammy.
It's all subjective, but those first 3 albums were great.
