Progress at least.  Still a ways away, but a few lights at the end of the tunnel.

Here's the part I keep reading that gives me pause on Diaz....

 

from BA "While the tools are there, there are questions surrounding if he will ever put it all together as a player. While it was a rather pedestrian year for him, Diaz still has the ceiling of an average outfield regular.

 

I see more , "if he makes it, he could be average" rather than "this kid is going to be a monster".

 

Rutschman, Hall, Rodriguez and Mountcastle all seem to have much higher profiles.

Nothing wrong with a league average right fielder. But agree you would like see him turn out to be a little better than that as the centerpiece of the Machado trade.
