This is the first year I'm really going to get into the NBA. My obsession with hockey has kept me from fully embracing the NBA, but I've come around on basketball. Sell me on your favorite team. Preferably one that plays a very fun style of basketball.

The Wizards. They're the local team, they used to be the Baltimore Bullets, and deep down you hate yourself.

That is true.

The Pelicans will be fun and have an enticing future and they give you an excuse to go to New Orleans!

And they are also filled with Duke players and the GM went to Duke.

What more could you ask for!? :)

It’s a four team league so pick wisely.

Besides, the off-season is the best part of the NBA year.
I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Lol in all honestly NO isnt a bad pick. Houston will be insanely fun to watch this year but it’s sort of like hopping on a bandwagon.

Dallas could be an interesting team to start to follow — good young talent there and ownership that is committed to winning.

I’d also endorse Portland but, trust me, as a fan of a west coast team, those 10:40 pm starts are BRUTAL.

Houston will likely remain an eye in the beholder squad.

Dallas is solid.

Good news: they're moving up a fair amount of the start times this year.

Hmm seems like most of their standard weeknight games (Lakers) are 730 pacific which usually translates to 740 (10:40 local)

Many of the national games are moving up to a 7/930 or 730/10 slate, which is nice.

Non-national TV Blazers home games always tipped at 7PT. And as mentioned, the nationally televised West games will now tip at 7 too. Smart move by the NBA. With so many good teams and all the star power on this coast, the bigger East Coast audience you can get to stay up and watch, the better.

Get NBA League Pass. The only team you'll have blacked out on there is the Wizards (lucky you!!!). There're a ton of great features and options available, and the NBA is probably way ahead of the other sports leagues in improving/enhancing the product.

One cool purchase option is where if you aren't a regular subscriber, you can purchase the 4th Qtr of individual games for $1.99 each. So if you get word that LeBron and Giannis are in the midst of an epic duel against each other, you can catch the last 12 minutes (plus OT if there is any) for less than the price of a cup of coffee. And like many of the NBA-haters say, that's the only part of the game you need to see anyway.

I was a Jazz fan growing up. Loved Malone and Stockton. Seems like they’ve got an interesting roster headed into 2019-2020.

If you're into MD basketball at all, the Atlanta Hawks are an interesting team.  They have Kevin Huerter, Alex Len and now Bruno Fernando, plus Trae Young who's an exciting young player.

And wow, Vince Carter is still playing?  That's awesome.

Last guy from the 90's, pretty cool.  I think this is his last year though.

If he did play next season, he'd have played in 4 different decades.
