With all the Sisco, and now Rutschman talk, Severino is becoming a legitimate starting big league catcher.

Severino's response to drafting a catcher with the 1:1 pick:

"Screw that!"

[hits three bombs]

I'm guessing it's more of a Jose Iglesias situation than anything, but it would be nice if he has learned to hit enough to be a quality backup/borderline starter.

Probably a fair comparison, but he looks like he has a different approach even from the first week or two here.  Less of a crouch, and very relaxed at the plate.

Dating myself a little bit, but he reminds me a lot of Charles Johnson, probably better defensively.

Johnson was known to be the best defensive C in the game at the time...so if Severino is better, that's really high praise.

I remember CJ when he was here and I never felt like he was a s good as advertised, but he did win 4 GG, so your right, I went too far....but watching Pedro behind and at the plate really reminds me of CJ.

As far as the best in the game.....Pudge was in that same era.   He IMO, was the best for a long time.

Been a while but I remember CJ having better offensive seasons than defensive while he was here.

Maybe this is Severino truly figuring it out.

That swing looks like a home run swing.

I know he went down, but between him and Jesus, the O's actually have some pretty good catchers.

Homers the last 2 games...

He's 5 for 17 overall, with those 2 bombs, and a double.

And a remarkable 2 catcher-interference calls in 1 inning.

Yes.

It was a joke.

He's been brutal behind the plate.

It looked like he had a brick in his mitt several times last night.

Pedro Severino is day-to-day with some tightness in hip. Should be in lineup in next day or 2, Hyde said #orioles

Orioles and C Pedro Severino have agreed to a one-year, $1.825 million deal. Severino had enough service time to be arbitration-eligible for the first time this year

Sounds like a fair deal.  IMO, the Orioles need Severino to bridge the gap to Adley.
