Stowers should be penciled into one of the starting corner OF spots and looking at 500+ plate appearances. He's got nothing left to prove at AAA.

He will be.  Since they didn't bring in any real hitters, it'll be Hays in LF, Stowers in RF, and Santander at DH against RHP most of the time.

Stowers probably to the bench when Adley goes to DH, with Santander back to RF.  But could occasionally see Stowers in LF or Rutschman to 1B on those days.  Will depend on how well everyone is hitting and if Stowers can play LF competently.

Against LHP it'll be interesting to see what they do.

Stowers has historically had even splits if not better against LHP so yeah he should get plenty of ABs this year.

I think an effective Kyle Stowers is one way the Orioles can over achieve.

Seems weird to bench him vs LHP when he had a 2.750 OPS against them last year

What do you mean that's a small sample?

Would expect him to play today. I'm expecting he gets 450 abs this year.

Maybe we should start a pool and see who guesses closest.

With todays lineup I am thinking he's going to be lucky to sniff 350.

Yeah, zero starts in the first three games should lead to an adjustment in one's prior estimate.

I am not thrilled with the lack of playing time this far for Stowers. This is not how a legit prospect should be treated imo.

Not sure what Hyde is doing, but I'll assume he knows something we all do not.

The #Orioles have made the following roster moves: - Reinstated C James McCann from the 10-day Injured List. - Optioned OF Kyle Stowers to Triple-A Norfolk after yesterday’s game.

Exactly 500 PAs in AAA across 21/22 and he had a .863 OPS with 22 homers in 117 games, a 30-HR pace across 162 games. Find it hard to believe more time at level he's already familiar with and handled pretty well is benefitting him at this point.

Well he's a move to actively try to get him 450+ at bats!

Also, this makes sense given that he had been related to last man on the bench status.

They're presumably not going to carry 3 catchers though so maybe he'll be called back up shortly to ride the pine more.

It’s better than being the 26th man and getting 81 ABs on the season, his current pace. Not that I like either option.

Part of being a deep contending team is having more more worthy players than playing time allows. Kyle Tucker got almost 900 at bats in AAA between 2018 and 2019 before breaking through. (Not saying Stowers has a chance to be as good as Tucker)

There’s also the reality that when talking about prospects, most of them just aren’t going to pan out. It’s ridiculously hard to break through at this level. This is frustrating though.

Stowers has been mismanaged by the organization so far this year.   They should have kept one of the left handed first baseman.

It was a poor decision by Elias and company to put Stowers onto the roster and then not use him.

I'd be less annoyed if we had better players blocking Stowers. I just don't see why he can't get meaningful time when the guys in front of him are Vavra, Frazier and Hays. He wouldn't even need to play more than those guys, just shouldn't have been buried.

Guess it's better to get everyday in Norfolk than once a week here, but those aren't the only options and the other options are all ones I'd prefer to either of the two they've pursued.

Yeah if Stowers started like 60% of the time or something in that range it'd be fine and I'm not asking for much beyond that but it's odd to treat a productive AAA hitter in a pretty solid sample like he's a pinch runner or whatever
