I'm certain that he has more trade value than a backup catcher. Trade him if you think he's only someone you want in the lineup for 40-50 games.

What would he fetch in a return? A middling BP arm?

I think he has potential to return to what he was in 2023 so I would prefer to keep him in hopes he can rather than trade him at whatever decreased value he has now.

Worst case scenario, he's a solid back-up C.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

When I think about trading an O's player, especially a fan fav like Adley, I ask myself what I would give up for him. Right now, I'd be hesitant to make a strong offer for him.

On the other hand, I also recognize that fans can allow themselves to undervalue a player whose on their fav team (take him for granted). Maybe KC fans and their GM are thinking, Damn, he'd be a great replacement for Salvy

Good news! I saw a dog today.

He has value, but trading him now would be doing so when that value is lowest. There's he's worth more to the O's than any other team is likely to pay.

He has more value than most here think. Hes a legit starter at a premium position. Hes shown he has offensive upside. Hes only 27. Hes a great teammate. Youre not only paying for a legit starter at a premium position, you are paying a tax that he could easily bounce back offensively and be a 5 WAR player in his 28 and 29 yr old seasons. If no one wants to pay that tax the Os wont move him. Nor should they. Ill happily bet on Adley producing better offense

He's got considerably more trade value than Kremer, IMO, to try and quantify it.

If that's true, I'd move him now.

I read that entire article and the take away I got was that its hard to see how "catcher defense" becomes more important with robo umps. Perhaps a better title would be catchers framing or catchers receiving the pitch. I was expecting to read something about how the rest of a catchers job will become more important since balls and strikes would get better from the get go. This was entirely about balls and strikes.

Agree with this linguistic technique. I'm still skeptical about the value of what is deemed pitch framing and extremely skeptical of giving 100% of the credit for it to the catcher.
