Penny Hardaway has put together a roster at Memphis with a talent base of One-and-Done's that's comparable to what we've seen the past years at Duke and Kentucky. The buzz is officially palpable on Beale Street.

Another top recruit going to play overseas (New Zealand) instead of going to college for a year. Probably the first guy who had no qualification issues.

Hard to argue with the rationale he states in the article. No mention of his salary, but I think it's safe to assume it's well into the six figures, plus he can sign with a shoe company and agent right away. A gap year in New Zealand while making several hundred thousand sounds like an absolutely wonderful way to spend a year. I think we will see a ton more players do this until the NBA figures out a new rule.

Interesting situation.
He may have been doing this the whole time but Duke was the heavy favorite to land him for the 2020 class. He re-classified to this season and everyone thought he was going to Duke but Jones coming back to school stopped that.
His dad stated that he wanted his kid to play a lot right from the start and that it was important he play PG. I wonder if Jones had left if he would have gone to Duke as opposed to going overseas?

I thought it was Kansas. I know Duke was involved, but I was hearing Kansas/Memphis.
BTW, holy crap Memphis is loaded for bear.

If you want to argue about something, I ranked every D-1 program from 1-353. A handy reference if you get multiple head coaching or scholarship offers.
The most interesting ranking is UConn at 19.
