Butler committed to Auburn last week. Horace, Gipson, and Rios remain the team's top targets. Gipson and Rios are the more likely guys to land, sounds like Horace may be staying closer to home.

They're also trying to flip 3-star OT Coleon Smith, an Indiana commit.

Horace signed with UTSA this morning. Gipson and Rios are still out there, and Smith has yet to sign anywhere.

Give me all the lineman. Gipson in-particular.

There were no unexpected developments for Maryland at the start of the D1 Signing Period yesterday, and the team's class is all but set. They could add one or two players before the period ends in April, particularly the Junior College players I mentioned above. They did lose 3-star OT Santana Saunders to Old Dominion, but he wasn't expected to qualify academically. Additionally, 3-star WR Corey Dyches remains the team's lone unsigned commit, and they may wind up losing him to similar issues.

The full 26-member signed class:

  • 5-star WR Rakim Jarrett (Washington, DC)
  • 4-star LB Ruben Hyppolite II (Hollywood, FL)
  • 4-star RB Peny Boone (Detroit, MI)
  • 3-star S Osita Smith (Milford, CT)
  • 3-star RB Isaiah Jacobs (Owasso, OK)
  • 3-star WR Deajuan McDougle (Deerfield Beach, FL)
  • 3-star CB Tarheeb Still (Sicklerville, NJ)
  • 3-star S Beau Brade (Clarksville, MD)
  • 3-star JuCo CB Jakorian Bennett (Hutchinson, KS)
  • 3-star LB Riyad Wilmot (Fort Lauderdale, FL)
  • 3-star JuCo DT Ami Finau (Independence, KS)
  • 3-star JuCo DE Mosiah Nasili-Kite (Independence, KS)
  • 3-star LB Frankie Burgess (Pahokee, FL)
  • 3-star JuCo DT Almosse Titi (Council Bluffs, IA)
  • 3-star OG Khristopher Love (Fort Lauderdale, FL)
  • 3-star CB Devyn King (Gardena, CA)
  • 3-star WR Nick DeGennaro (Princeton, NJ)
  • 3-star OT Ja'Khi Green (Baltimore, MD)
  • 3-star CB Shane Mosley (Havertown, PA)
  • 3-star S Glen Miller (Orange Park, FL)
  • 3-star JuCo OT Amelio Moran (Scranton, PA)
  • 3-star OT Delmar Glaze (Charlotte, NC)
  • 3-star DT Tre Smith (Frostburg, MD)
  • 3-star OT Zach Perkins (Tampa, FL)
  • 3-star JuCo LB TJ Kautai (Independence, KS)
  • 3-star JuCo OG Johari Branch (Independence, KS)

Additionally, the team brought in two transfers:

  • RB Jordan Castleberry (Michigan)
  • WR DeJuan Ellis (Virginia Tech)

This recruiting class currently ranks #31 nationally, and #6 in the conference.

I like seeing 6 OL guys.  The more the better.  IMO a real weakness for Maryland when they play the better competition.

Credit where it's due, honestly a heck of a job by Locksley to do as well as he did with the season they just had.

Additionally, 3-star WR Corey Dyches remains the team's lone unsigned commit, and they may wind up losing him to similar issues.

My understanding on Dyches is that he's also a basketball player who has seen his stock rise significantly on the court, and the holdup might be that he wants to go somewhere that will ensure he can play both sports.

A little more on Challen Fa'amatau.  Plus a nice look at the new facilities.

Locks now has 7 incoming Oline guys.  Clearly Maryland identified the trenches as a crucial need.

My understanding on Dyches is that he's also a basketball player who has seen his stock rise significantly on the court, and the holdup might be that he wants to go somewhere that will ensure he can play both sports.

247Sports now lists Dyches as enrolled, so looks like he'll be joining the team after all. The wide receiving corps gets even deeper.

Maryland added two players from Lackawanna Community College as walk-ons this week, RB Rashard Jackson and DL Greg Rose. Both are originally from the state of Maryland and will be eligible immediately.
