Lloyd is practically a must. Not only would he be a great headliner due to his rating, but after 2 cycles with no RB it's now a need position. Time for Brooks to show why he was hired.

Really looking forward to diving into this class in the next month or so. This may be the best DMV class in history, and the Terps have the perfect coaching staff to take advantage.

247Sports started ranking recruits in 2000, and this is the first time the state of Maryland has three 5-star recruits:

  • SDE Bryan Bresee (Damascus High School; #2 overall)
  • WDE Chris Braswell (St. Frances Academy; #13 overall) *Committed to Alabama*
  • RB MarShawn Lloyd (DeMatha Catholic High School; #27 overall)

The state is top-heavy with defensive talent. Just 4 of the top 15 recruits play offense, and 2 are running backs.

  • 6'3", 295 lbs.
  • DeMatha Catholic High School (Hyattsville, MD)
  • 54th-best DT in country
  • Other Offers: Massachusetts, Ole Miss, Syracuse, Virginia

According to 247 White would likely have been rated higher and had bigger offers, but he broke his ankle in the first game last season. He should be cleared to go this fall. If he has great season this year that could be a double-edged sword for UM....if he stays committed he raises the Terps recruiting profile, but plenty of big time schools might try and lure him away too.

It sounds like several St Frances players are visiting campus tomorrow. Obviously good news considering the caliber of players they have, but along with the likes of DeMatha and St Johns it would really benefit the program to make more inroads at SFA. The only name I can recall MD getting from there is Duncan (and I think he committed to UM before transferring to SFA).

Poggi seems to prefer to send his top players to the big name schools, I suppose it helps his own recruiting. Getting a visit doesn't mean a commitment, let alone a LOI, but at least Locksley will get an audience with some of these guys to make his pitch and hopefully build on relationships he probably already started while he was at Alabama.

With Justin Winters and Ian Thomas at SFA, you have some of Locks "boys" there now.....and in truth,

this is SFA 3rd "bus trip" to UMD since August

I’d like to know where you got the impression that Clemson is the leader for Bresee. Pretty confidant that’s not right, unless something has changed dramatically recently.

Primarily using 247Sports' crystal ball predictions as my indicator there. 10 of the 14 predictions have him going to Clemson, including Steve Wiltfong. But as I mentioned elsewhere in the article, it's very early in the cycle and things can change on a daily (if not hourly) basis.

Forgot to mention here that Lloyd committed to South Carolina last week. Kind of a head-scratcher, since Georgia was thought to be the leaders for him.
