Many congrats to @AmberTheoharis who is joining the NFL Network. You're going to be missed around here! Don't big-time me.

Best of luck to her.

Haven't heard more, but will be interested to see what her role is there. Sideline reporter for games would be my assumption. I'll see more of her out here now than I did while she was at MASN. No complaints!

I was thinking the same thing. It's pretty remarkable how many local sports media-types have gone straight to national gigs over the years. Baltimore certainly must have a reputation of being a good place to launch your career. And it's a plus for us, since we get to appreciate their talents before they hit it big.

I can't see her doing too much traveling, she scaled back on MASN after all. I think the NFL Network crew for the Thur games has already been named? I could see her doing Sunday reports though.

Not entirely surprised, but I thought this kind of move would come later. With MASN largely taking her off(or maybe her choice?) of O's Xtra in favor of Tom Davis, the move makes more sense.

The Post and Sun have been launching points for national media for years, I guess now with digital media, online reporting and tv talent are getting plundered from the area as well.

Baltimore is an ideal place for a relatively-young person in the media to make their bones. Small enough to become a big fish, but big enough for that to mean something. Close to a major media hub in Washington, but outside enough to avoid getting lost in the noise. For sports, two major professional sports in town, and three more a short drive away, along with a major university, most of which have longstanding histories with the city.

Places like New York and LA and Washington might be the top for local journalism, but they can also be dead ends. Baltimore is a stop on the way, but on the direct line to national outlets.

None. Two major professional sports in Baltimore (baseball and football), and three more in Washington (basketball, hockey and soccer). I wasn't forgetting the Nationals and Redskins, just including them with the Orioles and Ravens.

Unless you're referring to World Team Tennis.

Oh I see what you did well you forgot the WNBA then! I never really think of MLS as a "major" sport.
