The Beatles, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Drake, Jay-Z.

That’s a strong list

The Who, outside of Baba O'Riley. Like that song, hate most of their other stuff.

All modern rap/trap music. It's awful.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

I can't stand anything by ELO, Styx, Foreigner, Bad Company and Journey.

It's all crap.

As far as artists go I'll definitely 2nd (or 3rd, or whatever) Aerosmith.  Stone Temple Pilots was mentioned earlier, never a big fan of theirs either.

One I haven't seen mentioned is Prince - he's one that I appreciate his creativity and "artistry" (pun intended), but his music - just not enjoyable to me.

Not a big fan of the Rolling Stones either.  I know that's heresy to some on here.

As for songs I could probably mention a few more if I thought about it, but the one that always stood out to me was Strawberry Fields Forever.  I like The Beatles and lot and most of their songs were great, but how was that song one of their biggest hits?  It's awful.

Billy Joel does so many different styles of songs I'm not sure you could really classify him in any way.  One song might be awful, the next might sound totally different and be pretty good.

That's absolutely fair.

I break Billy Joel down into Pre Uptown Girl (mostly great), and Post Uptown Girl (mostly awful, if not sometimes embarrassingly bad)

I agree with you on Prince.

The guy was extremely talented, however, not my cup of tea.

The song "Purple Rain" may be my least favorite song of all time.

   The movie is dreadful.

I really wanted his dad ( played by Clarence Williams of Mod Squad fame) to kick his ass in that movie scene.  :-P

That's 8 "mostly great" non-live albums and 4 "mostly awful" non-live albums (5 if you include his classical album in '98). Obviously the majority of his classic stuff came in the '70s, and The Stranger is one of my favorite albums of all time. His sound changed pretty drastically with the Glass Houses album, and continued to change throughout the '80s. But he still had some solid stuff after Uptown Girl. This is the Time and Matter of Trust off "The Bridge", and "Storm Front" had some solid stuff other than We Didn't Start the Fire.

I agree with every word of this.

It's just crazy to me that same guy who did "Vienna" is also responsible for "Uptown Girl"

And yes, I realize my Uptown Girl obsession is odd.

I think you saw it a lot at the time, people changing their sound pretty drastically from the '70s to the '80s. Elton John is a perfect example. I mean, you listen to something like "Tiny Dancer" and then go listen to "I'm Still Standing" and it's a complete 180. He went from heavy country and gospel influences to the more pop-centric stuff. Chicago is another example, moving from the horn-based jazzy rock stuff of the '70s to the Peter Cetera ballads of the '80s.
