The return for Arenado is light on value. The Orioles are not the only team dumping payroll.

Interim GM Bill Schmidt retained as permanent general manager and his first two moves are to extend RHP Antonio Senzatela to a 5 year, $50.5 million extension with a club option for 2027 and to extend 1B CJ Cron to an extension, terms not yet known.
Those are good moves by the Rockies.
Toglia is their 1B of the future, but Cron provides a nice bridge to get to him.
Senzatela is interesting too. Agree with the MLBTR commentary on 'finding guys that can pitch in Coors'. Rockies sort of need to just figure out who they want to be. They are in a tough spot, but they can build a credible roster in 2022, if they want to.
fwiw, the Senzatela contract is a fairly reasonable map for a Means extension. If you made me bet trade or extend, I'd bet trade, but in the extension consideration, that's a framework.

Not opposed to it. By itself it wouldn't make sense, but as part of an attempt to actually not suck it'd be a good deal.

The years and dollars were closer to my original projections and more than several sites were advertising at the beginning of FA. Not super cost prohibitive, but not nothing either.
I had spent the last year talking about if you got Bryant or one of the SS's... you wouldn't be relying on all of younger guys hitting...
That said with Bryant I had talked myself into being okay with him on a shorter (4 year) contract, because there are some real reservations there. I did think you could eventually move him to 1st and probably be fine.
