MVP Baseball 2005 should be on the list. I played the hell out of that and it never glitched or anything. It was so smooth in every sense. The recent years of The Show I’ve played you still have trouble catching fly balls on the run. You are running to the spot and when your guy gets close he turns square to home while the ball lands two feet behind him. It’s 2018 and we can’t fix that?

2005 must have been the golden age because Madden that year was the best too (and is on this list). I had the NCAA game and when you had both you could draft in your NFL franchise from your NCAA game. So I would alternate playing seasons between games. University of Maryland had a lot of top three picks from 2005 and 2015 or so.

There really hasn’t been a version of the show or madden, that really has blown me away given the advancements in technology since 2005. It’s like everything is online driven so they put more time into crap you can buy like player card packs and unlockables, and less into the franchise or actual gameplay stuff. Is it that hard to make “making trades” deeper? No three team deals. Can only trade up to three players in a deal. No cash, int’l slots, no bearing on team budget, tells you if a trade is strong enough or not. You could take 10 minutes and get Trout Kershaw Harper on your team, no problem.

NHL 94 is an all time great. Tony Larussa 1992 was pretty great too. FIFA 96 was pretty great too if I recall. I mean if you go back a gen, Blades of Steel, BaseWars, Tecmo Bowl.

The newer ones I enjoy sim'ing more than i do playing. Back when they still had 2k baseball, they came out with half a game one year that was just MLB GM type stuff. I enjoyed that game way more than I should have. I always thought the game play was better in the 2k games, and sports games were better when EA didn't have an exclusive monopoly. Developers got scared off that if they didn't have the license no one would buy the game, but back to like Tecmo Bowl times, I think having an alternative with better game play would have been great.

OOTP and games of that ilk (World of Mixed Martial Arts, etc) are my favorite type of sports game.

Winning Post for Sega Saturn is also an all time great for horse racing fans.

MVP 2005 has an all-time soundtrack, even with like 6 tracks. None of them really caught fire ("Pressure Point" got a little bit of fame), but it was perfect "setting up your lineup and checking out the schedule" music.

Talking about soundtracks, Madden 2004-2007 was...man..."Madden Music" was an actual genre for a while.

ANYWAY...Griffey is the best sports video game. The end. Nick Noheart 4 Lyfe.

I'm old. I still get a tingle thinking of the wars I had on Head-to-Head Football. Thrilling games!

NHL '93 for Sega, i spent hours and hours playing that. Honestly, it's hard to believe the girl I was dating at the time actually became my wife after that obsession.

Yeah same here. 94 I switched to SNES, and I feel like that was a big change, but might just be because of the expansion teams and all that.
