By far, the funniest passage in the story:

 

Meyer said he conducted a six-month deep dive on the NFL that included interviews with his former Florida and Ohio State players as well as a study of the salary cap. But multiple sources said Meyer was unfamiliar with star players around the league, including 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel, Seahawks safety Jamal Adams and Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, a three-time NFL defensive player of the year.

“Who’s this 99 guy on the Rams?” Meyer asked one staffer during the season, according to a source. “I’m hearing he might be a problem for us.”

I'm a skeptic by nature but Urban Meyer has reached that Kanye stratosphere where any crazy story you read, the immediate reaction is to believe it.

Jags have a lot of talent.

That falls back onto coaching but Pederson won a SB 5 years ago so who knows.

Last year a mess with Meyer.   

 

Some player improvement this year, competitive, but haven't learned how to win yet.  Still very young.

 

Rest of this year,  first half of next year is learning how actually win games.

Seems like people have some questions now....  and think he could be showing off more of his athleticism....   but he's made some gains this year, after whatever last year was.

Was really asking. I dont watch much football outside of the Ravens. Interested to hear who people would compare him to right now.

Right now his upside is similar to that of Jimmy G, Ryan Tannehill, something like that. Upside moving forward feels like Kirk Cousins maybe? I don’t think anyone thinks “tank for Trevor” anymore. That was a miss.

All the analysts seemed to think he was the most polished qb prospect since Luck.  

Haven't seen that.

I'm not ready to necessarily label Trevor Lawrence as failing to meet expectations just yet.  Not every QB coming out of college is going to lead a team to the SB like Patrick Mahomes or Joe Burrow by year 2.  Ideally you want that because of the rookie salary, but it takes a lot of guys until at least their third season to get there.  

 

Trevor Lawrence might have had the most expectations heaped on him but he also probably had the worst head coach in a few decades to help develop him.  Urban Meyer was an absolute disaster, to the point where he was not only helping to bring him along, he probably actively degraded his growth.  If he's still not making progress by next season then I think it's fair to have the over-rated conversation.
