I like this idea. The less successful programs get a chance to have some postseason success & win an “open” championship.
My thoughts exactly

Here's the proposed Classifications for each sport:
That 3A east is loaded once again. The Jump start program now hurts River Hill with the extra 120+ kids from the Long Reach area and school.

Thanks for that info ECF. No wonder River Hill jump back up to the 3A classification.

I don't think the 3A East will be that strong next year. River Hill and Westminster are in the region. They are both decent 3A schools, but probably not threats to win the 3A championship. With North Point moving down and Damascus moving up, Linganore will have some pretty stiff competition to go with the teams in the North - Dundalk and Franklin. Additionally, Mergenthaler is moving to the 3A North. I am excited to see the open competition in the 3A next year.

Supposedly the former DII teams were tired of Dunbar getting to play and beat a bunch of 2A & 3A teams and securing home field advantage in the MPSSAA playoffs. I don’t know if they had a valid point but Dunbar should have no problem going undefeated as they did in the previous format.
