Maybe Maryland should be like Georgetown and drop the football program down to mid major level, with Towson, Richmond, Morgan State, etc...and just be a basketball school

Oh good grief.

No... they should just continue to improve.

They've worked on the facilities.
They have had back to back Top 25 classes...

Get the house in order (President, AD, HC)....

Get back to recruiting.

Keep stacking talent.

That's it.

Did something else break about the story that I missed? Or is this just a reaction about losing to Temple? Kinda mind blown, I've seen this suggested seriously a few times now.

I can't imagine how screwed the University would be without the TV revenue from the B1G. I guess maybe those suggesting this aren't Maryland fans, or at the very least don't have any concern whatsoever for the well being of the University?

Theyre in the B10. If we're forever an doormat in the B10 its better than moving down.

Moreover, even with this dark cloud hanging over the program we're in so much better shape now than we were in the 90s.

Except they aren’t even a Basketball school either.

They are just a school. They will have their day in the sun in both sports at least one more time in our lives. Until then they are pretty much Arkansas on a good day and Rutgers on a bad one. If that makes any sense.

They'd be screwed a lot worse than they are right now, that's for sure. No matter how bad it gets, and this is pretty bad, they couldn't give up football (and hence be forced out of the Big Ten) even if they wanted to. They're in too deep as far as relying on that money for many years to come.

They're a lacrosse school now. Too bad that program doesn't bring in a shit-ton of money though.

The shame of this mess, other than the obvious tragedy, is that Durkin seemed to be making inroads.  They are never going to be Ohio State, which is factory, and also a program, that seems to be protected by the B10 and NCAA.  They probably will never be PSU or Michigan, but with all the new facilities, they should be able to get to the second tier.

I think they need to say good bye, to DJ, Evans and most important Wallace Loh, let the fall out happen and start over.  Yea things are going to crash, with the football program, but a kid died.

Might be the dumbest thing ever!! Maryland would beat all those teams by 50.....actually that

already happened to Towson last year

Sad to see on national TV.  Our stadium half empty.  Not a good selling point for top recruits.  Think the AD needs to get more creative. Something is better than nothing at all.  Even if you let students in free, they will purchase food items.

How many historically losing programs have good attendance? At the end of the day, there aren't many tricks you can pull outside of winning football games on a consistent basis.

Seriously. Calling it "our" stadium and you don't know that?

They do limit the tickets, but I wouldn't be surprised if the full allotment hasn't been getting picked up recently.
