Kremer pitched well last night against a surprisingly decent hitting team. Defense has helped him the past couple of starts, but I feel that can be said about every good pitcher. He's got a 3.10 FIP, which is still very good.

Dean deserves a ton of credit. He didn't have his best stuff last night I don't think, but I believe I saw him incorporate the change up quite a bit more and it seemed to have hitters off balance. He also located a few more curveballs.

When I first saw him a few years ago, I thought he could be a Chris Tillman light. I feel I saw glimpses of that last night with his ability to land FB, CH and CU in the zone. I think the cutter has been fine for him, but I felt encouraged by seeing him locate the curveball and change up.

Maybe he's finally settling in and has the ability to use his whole arsenal. Because his stuff has never really been the problem. Here's to hoping.

We need to see more K's, but I think that could come.

I kind of like the Tillman comp. I' was never that impressed with Tillman nor did I ever really trust him year to year but he got the job done enough. Can def see that being Kremer.

Feel like if you told people we'd get a 3.45 ERA in a starter's third season from the Manny trade I don't think they could've complained too much, right?

And I still think Tillman finally mastered his stuff in 2016. He was having a Cy Young caliber first half and then the shoulder essentially died and never came back.

I don't think Dean has shown the consistency in his curveball or change up, but he has flashed it here and there. Tillman could bail himself out with the change up especially. Not sure Kremer will ever have that, but that's where I'm hoping Chris Tillman-light. Especially if he can maintain velocity better than Tillman ever did. And maybe the new regime helps with that.

Kremer may be figuring things out.  He did not have his best stuff last night, but he fought his way into the 6th inning and only gave up 1 run.

The organization seemed excited about him and he wet the bed.  That happens to a lot of young pitchers.  It is what they do after that, is what matters.   Kremer has a real chance to stake a claim for next year.  He probably has another 7 starts to make good.

Os won the Machado trade.

Kremer and Bradish kicking the best team in the AL asses represent serious progress.   Kremer is not the same pitcher that struggled so bad last year.

The big number is the walks. Slightly less than 2 per 9.  If you don't help them, the hitters have a much tougher job.

So it appears this is the rotation so far:

Gibson
Kremer
Irvin
Braddish
GRod/Wells

With Means combining with either GRod/Wells when he returns…agree?

Its possible, but I doubt they piggyback or go to 6-man when Means is back. Maybe for a brief time right as he returns, but I assume they'll get back to a typical 5-man rotation in short order.  Injuries or ineffectiveness should make it fairly clear who stays and who goes at that point.  Would be a wonderful problem to already have five productive starters at the time Means is ready to rejoin the rotation.

Sorry Dean, that's enough for now.  Back to AAA.   Will have to earn another opportunity, and will likely be in the pen.
