Here's a name for you guys....LaMarr Hoyt. He really only had one great season, but it was great enough that he won the Cy Young pitching for the White Sox, who were the AL West Champs that season but lost to the O's in the ALCS. Yep, it was 1983.

Dominated the O's in Game 1 of the ALCS, and had we not won Game 4, he was set to go in the deciding Game 5. To this day I tell people that I was more excited to win the Tito Landrum game than the World Series clincher, and LaMarr Hoyt was the reason.

Hoyt had a career that could only be described as....unusual. He won the most games in the league that Cy Young season (24), then the very next year lost the most games in the league (18). Got traded to San Diego and looked like he might get back on track, but then got mixed up with drugs and was out of baseball at just 31 years old. But by far the best story about him was when he missed a start because he burned his back trying to light a fart.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?
