According to DL Hall (who was reportedly throwing 98-99 tonight), Rodriguez touched 101.

His stuff is nasty.  A lot of guys don't look like they're throwing hard.  He looks like he's throwing hard.  You can see the movement on his curve and cutter.  He got a little help from Leslie Nielson on that one curve on the inside to the lefty...but just nasty.

I think they are trying to slow play all the prospects.  I also think they have a plan to manage innings, and it is probably easier to do that if all the top guys are not at the same level.

That said, it is time to challenge these kids, so your right, “let’s Go”.

My guess is it's 3-fold.  Management of innings is the most justifiable one.

He'll be the #1 RHed pitching prospect soon enough.  He's already top 20 (some graduations haven't hit yet) and my guess is he'll jump mid-year into the top 10 if he keeps this up.  That's not much of a prediction, he's been utterly dominating.  DL Hall won't be far behind him.

...and while their stuff and results are exciting, there are zero reasons to see how fast you can get them to OPaCY.  They aren't built up to where they can take workload and that's where you need to get them.  That's just time and innings and you do that in the minors, not the Majors.

GRod doesn't have to go on the 40 until after next year.

He's going to pitch 130 +/- innings this year.  Half of them need to be at AA.

Yes and if that holds true then he maybe starts next season at AA then moves up to AAA then 2023 he starts AAA and gets called up? We'd see him first in the majors at 23.

Probably depends on if the team next year is playing for anything.  If not, then perhaps they slow play him to the extent you describe.  I think on his own merits he's very likely to have earned a spot by early next season even considering the service time rules.  I think he shouldn't need much time at A+ this year, he was at A- last time he pitched but that was 2 years ago.  The lost season is going to be handled differently for everybody, but Rodriguez seems like a guy who shouldn't need much time at A+ and could go to AA in short order.  I'd like to see him pushed at least as fast as Chris suggests, if not even quicker.

Of course injuries or stagnated performance could slow things down at any point.  But I don't think he needs to be dominant this entire season to be MLB-ready by early 2022, merely good or very good.  The scouts will have more value in judging his readiness than us just looking at statlines.

I think he can / should be in the ML rotation by May '22, if he spends most / at-least 1/2 of this '21 season at AA.

That would be great but are you pretty much bypassing AAA then?

I think they are hoping to stagger the arrivals.  I don't think we see GRod until later in 22.

I think they are not to interested in winning until 23.  I think, they will use the expired Davis contract to bring in some mid tier FA's in the 22 off season, and hopefully guys like Rutsch, Hall GRod, Baumann, and others are ready to fly by then.

I think it’s tomorrow. Looks like it’s Blaine Knight tonight if they’re sticking with a strict rotation. I’ll be there because I can’t go this weekend.
