Can't expect anything from him this year. Hopefully it's not a serious shoulder injury- those can be career devastating.

Hyde says he has a mild lat strain, is symptom free, and should start throwing in a couple weeks. Seems like good news, though it also seems bad he keeps having lat problems.

Really good news compared to expectations. Hopefully no more setbacks in his recovery and we aren't buried by the time he returns.

So what did the first physician who read the scan say? That his arm needed to be amputated?

Didn't know that NMS is a radiologist.

NMS already had him at the glue factory.

I dunno. Just because the second guy saw a lat strain, doesn’t mean what the first physician saw should be discounted.

LOL. You guys never learn.
As i said on another post a while ago, lat injuries are often confused/lead to bigger shoulder issues. Not every time obviously, but they connect to all the important dangerous areas on the back side. Just like a huge number of times you hear a "forearm strain" and next thing you know they are having TJS.
Lat injuries are one you should raise your hackles at and keep a close eye on. Let's hope for the best. But I will say that article I read right after Strider went down listed like the top 20 at risk for major injury SP based on velocity and the types of pitches thrown and the top like 6 or 7 all went down with shoulder or TJ injuries, and GR was the next on the list. I've looked all over trying to find that one again and haven't been able to find it, but basically it was talking about rising velo over the years, and how as primaries have risen, so then have secondaries, and if it was the primaries causing these injuries, the secondaries and the torque putting spin on the ball can have, or just the velo itself. Really good read, i thought it'd get more traction.

MASN: Processing yesterday's update on Rodriguez
Yeah, I feel the same. Going have to prove me some health before I believe any lesser diagnosis.
Also, how many issues do you need to see to suspect something much worse going on? THREE lat injuries? Triceps and elbow? OR one bigger injury causing pain and swelling in these areas adjacent?

That's nothing new to his timeline. It was always going to be some time before he returned, they usually just save the 60-day IL for when they need a roster spot.
