Assuming neither (the correct option) is not a choice: gold.
Even though both are items with no true inherent value outside of that placed on them by society, if humanity truly goes into the shitter, I might be able to con some people into exchanging gold for something of real value. And if not, at least it looks pretty, and it's dense enough to use as a bludgeon if necessary.

Precious metals are pretty volatile. Gold has been holding steady for a while now but premiums on certain gold coins have really dropped.
I would tend to lean towards gold because it’s an actual commodity and while I think it’s a total long shot and not likely to happen at all, there are some who believe we will be using gold to pay for everyday items.
When you have enough people like that, you will always be able to get rid of it.
The real answer is no one fucking knows anything. Theories are great but that’s all they are. Even very educated thought processes have proven to be wrong over the last several years, especially in the metals market.

THink its been in the 1330s sometime over the last 2-3 months.
