My choices betray that I'm an old 32. Here we go.

All Along the Watchtower and Hurt are almost too obvious, the scope of those songs changed. I'm gonna throw "Me and Bobby McGee" in there, from Kristofferson to Joplin.

-

The Band covering Atlantic City was an excellent choice by Mackus. The Mandolin sells it. And I love Bruce.

-

Tom Petty covering I'll Feel a Whole Better by the Byrds

Johnny Rivers covering Positively 4th Street (swelling vocals over the Dylan writing)

Thanks for everything, Eddie Cochran, but:

Summertime Blues, Guitar Wolf

Ramones covering California Sun (The Rivieras) :

Not gonna beat the Stones for me, but I love Devo's spin on No Satisfaction

Sixteen Tons has been covered by many, (is it almost a standard?) I like Stevie Wonders

^^^^^

Look, I love you no matter what you do... but I just don't get the Johnny Rivers cover... all I hear is the absence of Al Kooper's B3 and Bloomfield's guitar, offset by the presence of some rat-a-tat drummer and (gulp) violins...

(My completely biased theory is that the producer put this song through the Seriousness Extractor before recording it.... )

Different strokes...

EDIT: I don't know why but Dylan's studio versions of this available on Youtube are all instrument-muted... the only one that sounds right is a Japanese one on Vimeo...

For the longest time, I had no idea that was a MJ song.

I actually like AAF's version better.

I'm sorry Rob, what? LOL

I thought it was another gambling thread!!!!

Joe Cocker's version of "She Came in Through the Bathroom Window" is my favorite cover ever.

I would argue that isn't even Cocker's best cover.

"With a Little Help From My Friends" being my pick.

I see Nirvana's cover of The Man Who Sold the World was mentioned early on. I prefer that one to the original.

I enjoy Foo Fighter's cover of Darling Nikki too.
