You have advanced college arms there and 4 of the top 10 according to BA and you take this kid?

They must love his upside.

Hobgood 2.0

That was exactly my thought.  We just drafted Matt Hobgood.

Blue Jays skipped them too. Must be financial issues.

Screw the financial issues. The pitcher from Florida probably isn’t going to pass up slot money at 11. Why???

So, he re-did his body to get drafted. Are we sure that he won’t get back into bad habits? Best pop up player? Comes out of nowhere? Doesn’t seem like the best profile. (Doesn’t mean anything of course but still..)

There's so many picks left and so much can happen, but.....

Had we taken him with the comp pick, sure, but to pass up solid college talent for a “below average athlete?”

God, I hate this organization.

A smart organization might take a kid like this to allocate money for someone who falls later.  They deserve no benefit of the doubt but it could be the reason why.

Maybe, but you could simply pay the legit 11 pick what he warrants and not worry about them slipping and then not signing because the money is less.

Right....but we've seen the Orioles take a number of guys with early picks that could look like the "below slot, allocate more elsewhere" strategy.....then jack around with the guy and give him slot.

Everything around him right now seems to so much mirror the situation surrounding Hobgood.

Up to pick 29....

O's have the 37th overall pick....

MLB.com's 14th (McClanahan, Shane), 15th (Kowar, Jackson), 19th (Wilcox, Cole), 21st (Hankins, Ethan), 23rd (Rocker, Kumar), 28th (Edwards, Xavier), 29th (Eierman, Jeremy), 30th (Walker, Steele) are all still on the board.

It's weird to be the age where there are guys being drafted, and you have a general idea of where you were and what you were doing the days they were born.

Getting McClanahan at #37 would feel like a win.

Have to believe the Royals are hoping Singer's team-mate Jackson Kowar lasts 3 more picks.

Where he will undoubtedly torment the Orioles for several years. Until it's time for TB to pay him....then he'll become a Yankee, and continue to do more of the same.
