I think we should assume that everyone who committed before Durkin was fired, or certainly before he was placed on leave, is going to decommit. We'll likely have a nearly entirely new staff, so even the ties to assistant coaches will be gone for most of these kids. Gotta expect mass exodus, or as mass as you can have with such a small class to begin with.
'18 is probably going to be the best Terps football team for a good long while. This mess is going to have major long-term implications.

Until they do a full purge of the UMS people wrapped up in this sordid affair, I don't see why any recruit would want to play there no matter who the coach is. Wallace Loh need not stick around until next June, lest he change his mind between now and then. You still have unidentified persons on the BOR who recommended that not only Durkin stay, but also that the two trainers who ignored Jordan McNair's symptoms and failed to treat him should have been kept too. Then you have the big money boosters pulling strings behind the scenes....apparently many of them wanted Durkin to stick, one of them going so far as to publicly state that McNair was responsible for his own death.
If you are a recruit or parent of one, why would you choose UM right now? Fancy new facilities and uniforms don't mean a damn if the people in charge don't care about your well being.

I wouldn't get my hopes up that there's another Stefon Diggs in that group. None of those guys are from MD/DC.
They're not showing up on that list, but there's 4 members of Alabama's 2019 class from the DMV. Flipping them seems unlikely, but still possible.

Locksley was on The Fan earlier today, and he basically said he's not going after any Alabama commits unless the kid decommits on his own first. Gave two reasons; first, he doesn't want to hurt the relationship he's built with Saban (and I'm sure it would make the next several weeks pretty awkward), and second he said he recruited those guys to play for Alabama, not for him.

Didn't take long for Locksley to make a splash. Keith Cavanaugh reporting that Isaiah Hazel will be flipping his commitment from West Virginia to Maryland. Hazel is a 4-star WR from Wise HS. Locksley was his primary recruiter for Alabama.
Cavanaugh also reporting 4-star S Nick Cross (DeMatha) is visiting Maryland today. He's committed to Florida State.

AL.com: Alabama reserve offensive lineman plans to transfer
Richie Petitbon is a Maryland native and a former top-65 recruit. He can play any position along the offensive line, and would likely be a day-one starter for the Terps.

I'm guessing that's Hellams. Which is good....between graduation and transfers the secondary really needs a talent infusion.

That we are even discussing MD picking up as many as three 4-star recruits is probably a win unto itself, since many (myself included) probably wrote the 2019 class off as a lost cause and wanted to FF straight to the 2020 class.
