Yay or Nay? Worth the subscription? Likes? Dislikes?

I got a two month trial with my new/used car. Only experience with it in the past was when I drove my father in laws truck from Florida to Illinois when he moved. He's got XM and that was nice to have all those choices for a long, long drive. Not having to worry about the signal fizzing out when you hit the next town.

But for day to day short commutes, do I really need it? If I'm in the car for 20 minutes I like local sports talk, 98 rock in the morning.

Lord knows I don't need a 24/7/365 Jimmy Buffet station. I lived on a beach in Florida for four years. I've heard more Jimmy Buffet than I care to talk about. Nails on a chalkboard at this point.

Thinking if I can get my itunes playlist on my android phone now that I have a car with bluetooth, that will suffice for music, then I can listen to local talk if I want.

I never would have figured my dad for a satellite radio user. When he bought a new car last year, similar to you, it came with the three-month trial for Sirius/XM. But by the end, he decided to go for it. He can listen to Fox News when he's by himself, and he and my mom will listen to 60s on 6 and the Beatles Channel when they're together, and he knows he'll be able to get at least the opposing team's broadcast for Orioles games. I think he really likes it.

I say use the trial (maybe wait a couple of months if you can if you want to get the baseball content), and see how you like it.

I have it, can't imagine not having it now.  So many options, it's great.

The music channels are way too repetitive.

But overall I do enjoy it, especially the Howard Stern stuff. And you can listen on the app so it doesn't have to just be in the car.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

I can't imagine not having it at this point, but Sean is right about the music channels being repetitive.

It's great for sports, as you don't have to hear coverage of things you're not interested in. If you like Hockey, listen to the NHL channel, Baseball has MLB Network radio.....etc. Plus play by play of all 4 major sports, every game, every night.

Highly recommend

It was awesome listening to meaningful O's games on Sirius on the way down to the beach a few years ago and not having to worry about losing WBAL on the eastern shore and trying to find a local station that carries O's games but is broadcast out of someone's backyard shed.

Road trip station is online streaming only. Is that some kind of a joke?

Yeah that's kind of an oxymoron but welcome to Sirius radio. It doesn't always make sense.

So Backspin has become LL Cool J's Rock the Bells radio. Launched last night. Listening to it now. Sounds a lot like Backspin, just with more talking.

The trick is to get a used Sirius radio with lifetime subscription... I got one off of ebay, got the adapter thing sorted out, and put in my bride's Acura TL, replacing the onboard XM... total cost ¬$200 with no monthly fees... (the car's dash display still works right, it just thinks it's XM when it's not)...

I have an old Sirius boom box with the head unit I could put into an old car. It still works despite updating the account to new radios. Installing new floors in the room where my router is hooked up so I had to remove them. The boom box is coming in handy. I wonder if it’ll still work after I cancel Sirius completely.
