Good spot for Huerter and probably for Jackson.
Jackson could have helped himself with another year.

I'm sure he could've moved his draft position a little higher, but he's already an older player (currently 21 y/o) having spent a year in prep school before arriving at Maryland.
I think he decided to leave after this year the day he came back to school after last year's NBA draft process. He's old enough that it's entirely reasonable to think that it's time for him to begin his pro career. It's not like a year in the G-league or even overseas will be worse for him developmentally than a year in College Park. And the pay is certainly better even if it's not 1st round money.

Turgeon made zero effort to have him consider coming back, when apparently Jackson had yet to completely make up his mind.

Good post...I didn't think about him being an older player.
I think your right, the G League may do him some good...but he may wind up spending time over seas too.

It makes you wonder what we do not know.

I assume you have a good source on that, but both parts of that are difficult for me to believe.Turgeon made zero effort to have him consider coming back, when apparently Jackson had yet to completely make up his mind.
I think Jackson knew he was leaving before summer practice began.
I also think Turgeon, for all his flaws, would've put the full court press on to convince him to stay, or at least let him know he was more than welcome to return, if Jackson were open to it.
Maybe there was some locker room reason I haven't heard of that Turgeon would want Jackson gone. Really the only way I could see the scenario you present being true.
