Dan Szymborski released his ZiPS projections for the Orioles today: http://www.baseballt... ... e_orioles/
A few thoughts...
-Luke Scott, with a 114 OPS+, had the friendliest projection among hitters. If Scott has that kind of season left in him (I have my doubts), then the Orioles should perhaps look into re-signing him for a year to be the primary designated hitter.
-Thought the projection on Wada was interesting (4.01 ERA in ~ 140 innings). If he does that, then Duquette found a nice bargain. Also thought the projections for Wieters and Britton were a bit harsh. Overall, the projections were pretty depressing but nothing that seemed too out of line.
-Brian Matusz: 5.35 ERA
-Projections on some new faces: Matt Antonelli: .233/.318/.351. Endy Chavez: .270/.301/.361. Dana Eveland: 5.44 ERA.

These projections seem very VERY low.
I think most of us are assuming a bounce back year for Matusz and Britton to take the next step. But some of these just seem really harsh.
Never put too much stock into projections to begin with.
