What an awesome trade that was,

"In the left faceoff circle, Forsberg stole the puck from John Carlson and sent a wrist shot toward the Washington net. The puck glanced off the skate of Capitals defenseman Brooks Orpik and by Holtby.

It was Forsberg's 100th NHL goal. Nashville acquired Forsberg in a 2013 trade-deadline deal that was a bust for the Capitals, who netted Martin Erat and Michael Latta in return." http://www.espn.com/...ameId=400961873

Hate this more than signing Ward.

Hate this more than signing Hamrlik.

Hate this more than ANY NHL trade I've seen in my 33 years.

That should tell you how bad of a trade this was.

Here's my response when they announced it back in 2013.

The Caps version of the Glenn Davis trade.

That Ward signing worked out pretty well though.

Ovie picked up his third hat trick of the season on Saturday night against the Leafs.  This gives him 20 career hat tricks moving him past Peter Bondra for #1 for most hat tricks for a Capital.

Last season he finished with 33 goals for the season, #8 has already netted 18 this year in just 25 games.

Bottom line is they'll be in the hunt again, but will they ever make a true go of it in the playoffs?

Regardless, I'm looking forward to seeing them play in a month.  Fantastic experience, even on an opposing team's ice.

Real american hero has been playing well.  Of course it's in his walk year,   he's going to cost a boat load next summer.  Don't know if we can afford it but I would find a way to pay him.

They are certainly right about Ovie and it's great to see the 5 on 5 goals.  The shot and the pp goals will always be there but it's nice to see him getting it done at even strength.

Bottom line, the team is playing well and Trotz and the deam deserve credit for that.  No predictions from me, but there's no reason not to think they won't make the playoffs which is more than can be said about the O's and Ravens.

How sick will you get if Vegas gets to the Stanley Cup before the Caps?

Vegas has the most points in the west, 2nd most in the NHL, and the best home record at 19-2-2. Something about teams having "tired legs" when they show up for games there. Lol.

So there's an interesting name floating out there as trade bait.  He's a former Cap left three years ago to go play for another red sweater team but may be making a return before the deadline.  Mr. Game Over himself Mike Green.  Obviously Detroit could trade him to anyteam that makes a good offer, but it looks like the Caps have some cap space to fit him in and could certainly use a veteran d for the stretch run and the playoffs...
